Earth-Wise Show: Lake County Community Radio

For those who caught the food security discussion on the Earth-wise show on KPFZ radio, for reference, here is a link to a summary of the principles of permaculture:

The show also featured Joanne Saccato who is spearheading the Lake County Community Co-op. For those interested in participating in the self-reliance dialog, planning and projects in Clearlake, visit the co-op wiki website:

The group is focusing on a variety of local food and sustainability projects including a Lake County buying cooperative.

You will need to call the courthouse office or email me rather than posting anonymously on an unrelated blog since I can't investigate the problem to which you refer without specifics. I will leave my reply online for awhile and then take your comment off the public Lakefuture website. Feel free to leave public comments on drushing.com blog instead.

How much taxes have you paid? it turns out that lake county spends more in Law enforcement alone each year than it collects in property taxes. Few people know that most money for county budget items comes from the state rather than property taxes. And it turns out that needle exchange actually reduces county expenses. Even one park worker or child accidently finding a needle in a county park will justify the program expenses over the life of that program.
